PROJECT 3 : STOP MOTION VIDEO

In task 3 we are required to produce a stop motion video with our own themes. Voice over, sound effects and music can be used in this task. It's a group project so we needed to find our teammate and discuss on what kind of a video we would like to create.

We also discussed our story, themes and location in whatsapp beforehand so we have more idea on what we are dealing with. We also took some time and did some research.

So after all that discussion we decided on doing something that is related to armies and war. So I went to shopee and bought a set of toy soldiers for the video shooting.

So before starting the recording Marcus created a script for us and I recorded some lines before the day of our recording and searched up the sound effects so that after recording we can straight insert our sounds effects and voiceovers into the video.

After receiving the parcel we started our stop motion recording at campus's carpark.

These are the images we took during the recording session in the carpark, it was difficult to stand the army figures on the dirt as they are not stable enough so suffered quite a lot throughout the recording session we started around 930am in the morning until 2pm in the afternoon.

After the shooting session Marcus started with the Stop motion compilation. After Marcus was done with the compilation I started with adding in the effects

So after receiving the video I started to check what and where do I need to insert my effects and marked down the points and timelines in the video.

So after marking I went with searching up some muzzle flash that can be used to represent the firing of the armies it took me quite a while to get the one that are applicable for the video.

And after that I inserted the muzzle flash into the video, was using the screen filter at first but then I noticed that due to the background and light of the video the muzzle flash  looks too light so I went through each of the filters, unexpectedly the lighten filter makes the muzzle flash darker and increased it's visibility, so I applied the lighten filter to each of the muzzle flashes.

I also changed the rotation, scale and position of the flashes so that it look's like it's coming out of the gun rather than just in the video.

Inserting effects into the points that I marked beforehand in premiere pro.

We also have a explosion scene at the end of the video so I thought of adding in a white screen so it looks more realistic.

After finishing up the effects I sent the video to Marcus for him to finish up the sound effects part.

So after discussing we decided to add in some slides at the opening and end of the video to show who did the video and also kind of explain the timeline.

Marcus also used two different types of sound effects for the machine gun throughout the video one with stopping and one without stopping so that it sounds more like a battlefield.

Marcus also recorded some voiceovers for the captain in the video.

And he also decided to add in music for the video in order to increase the richness of the video.

REFLECTION

Experience:
It was a fun task to play with and this particular module is different from the other modules too, I didn't thought that I would one day get to record videos and edit videos. I learned a lot through out the whole semester but it was actually a little hard for me at the end of the semester as I was sick I got covid and as it was my first time so it took me quite a while to get used to it and recover so I wasted few weeks time there but after recovering everything's fine, and most of my tasks are done in groups if I have the chance next time I would like to try doing the task in solo to see what are the challenges and what are the profits.

Observations:
I noticed that the vibes in this module is pretty chill everyone is doing their work at their own pace and everyone is happy it seems like everyone is enjoying the module pretty much and our lecturer Mr. Martin is pretty nice to us too so the vibe throughout this whole semester is pretty much positive and fun.
