RECAP

This task requires us to assess, investigate, document and analyse the existing art/design work that we've selected in Task 1. Study the design principles found in the work, as well as the size, placement, purpose, effectiveness of the design in relation to the UNSDG goal that we have chosen.

VISUAL ANALYSIS

( Fig 1.0, Nature's Magical Moment, Julian Rad, 2015, Photograph,  https://www.boredpanda.com/photography-austrian-wildlife-animals-julian-rad-part-2/?media_id=2774036&utm_source=pinterest&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=organic )

In this photograph by Julian Rad I see balance and emphasis and maybe simplicity, as mentioned in Task 1 elements in the photograph are emphasized to attract the viewers attention and the positions are nicely organized too to achieve the balance. I also think that simplicity is at work in this composition, as it effectively highlights the beauty and peacefulness of nature itself, allowing the viewers to focus on the squirrel and the actions without any extra distractions. As for the photograph my guess is that Julian Rad used macro lenses for the close up squirrel shot as macro lenses are specifically designed to focus at a very close distances, allowing to capture very detailed of small objects such as insects, animals and flowers. From my perspective I think the placement of the photography would be a low position photograph which is shot from close to the ground which makes the subject appears to be larger, taller, closer, etc , with low position the depths are enhanced and also the subjects are emphasized too.

Other than that I think Julian Rad took the opportunity by sitting in nature patiently for hours to capture these wonderful pictures, I think the purpose of doing that is to show us humans that lives in our own world, a hectic and rushing world full of different kinds of distractions and temptation that we share this beautiful planet with these beautiful and precious animals. I think by doing this Julian Rad have also reminded us that we are not the only species living on this planet. As for the effectiveness of this photograph on the UNSDG that I've chosen which is UNSDG 15 Life on land, I think there is somewhat impact but I think the impact is not big enough for people to realize that nature is at stake. At my point of view I think Julian only brought out the beauty of nature but not the bad or corroded side of the nature itself. (330 Words)

FEEDBACK

Week 4- Away for Intercultural Japan trip
Week 5- Direct use of photograph are not allowed. If the video or photographs are planned then it might be acceptable. Animal cruelty can be used too for my Task 3. Planning is very important. Nature time lapse is a good idea.
